‘The Bodyguard The Musical’ Graces the Philippine Stage this September

Whitney Houston’s classic hit, ‘The Bodyguard The Musical,’ will finally hit the local stage with its Philippine adaptation.

Directly from London’s West End, the hit musical celebrating the iconic Whitney Houston is coming to the Philippine stage, presented and produced by 9Works Theatrical.

Renowned theater sensation and Grammy nominee Christine Allado is set to headline the hit musical ‘The Bodyguard,’ stepping into the iconic role of Rachel Marron, famously portrayed by the late Whitney Houston.

Allado will star opposite British actor Matt Blaker, who takes on the role of Frank Farmer, Marron’s bodyguard and love interest. Joining the stellar cast are Tim Yap, Sheena Palad, Jasmine Fitzgerald, Radha, Vien King, CJ Navato, and a host of other talented performers.

The cast and creative team were in full attendance at the musical’s press conference held on September 3 at the Balmori Suites in Rockwell, where they expressed gratitude for the growing excitement surrounding the production.

“It means the absolute world to be able to bring such an iconic character in a show that’s been loved by different generations,” Allado shared during the event.

The main cast treated the press to select performances, offering an exciting glimpse into what audiences can expect. Allado and Fitzgerald delivered a powerful rendition of ‘Run to You,’ showcasing their refined vocals and deep connection to the material.

Even in a brief performance, Allado’s spine-tingling vocals made it clear that Houston’s legendary role is in capable hands. Her interpretation of Rachel Marron promises both verve and nuance.

The cast is more than excited to bring to life iconic hits from the musical, including ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’, ‘I Have Nothing,’ and Houston’s most unforgettable anthem, ‘I Will Always Love You.’

Directed by Robbie Guevara, with musical direction by Daniel Bartolome, the production promises an intimate yet spectacular adaptation, infused with fresh twists that make it uniquely their own.

The Proscenium Theater

The Bodyguard will also mark the first full-scale production to be staged at the new Proscenium Theater in Rockwell. The show will run from September 26 to October 19, 2025, with tickets now available via TicketWorld.
