Most art exhibitions are held in galleries, where it’s silent, controlled, and untouched by routine.

But a company in Mandaluyong chose to break that convention. On the 22nd floor, surrounded by tall buildings, Espacio Diseño, an interior and fit-out contractor, opened its office doors and transformed its workplace into an immersive showroom, titled Reimagine Spaces.

Retaining its original workplace layout, with furniture left exactly where it belongs, the exhibit offers guests an intimate look at how the company seamlessly integrates artworks into its remarkable design and furniture.

Here, artworks don’t just decorate the space; they breathe life into it.

Work of art

Art, by textbook definition, is the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, expecting outputs to be appreciated for their beauty and emotional power.

And what Espacio Diseño offers is no different. With 20 years of expertise and four business units under its belt, spanning design, construction, furniture, and facilities management services, the company creates spaces with the same intention that artists bring to their canvases—form, beauty, and purpose.

The inspiration behind Reimagine Spaces came from the idea of creating an event that served multiple purposes at once. For Jennifer Cauilan, CEO of Espacio Diseño and an art collector, holding an art exhibit in their office achieved exactly that.

“The first art show of Espacio Diseño was [actually] in collaboration with another gallery. However, [we] would like to showcase our furniture, our design, and what we are capable of. So, it's much better if we use our office as the venue, and it's something new that has never been done before,” Cauilan told Art+.

Beyond demonstrating its design and fit-out abilities, the exhibit also reflects the company’s commitment to supporting local artists as part of its corporate social responsibility.

Reimagine Spaces features 27 exceptional artists, showcasing a thoughtfully curated and diverse collection of works, from abstract, surrealist, and impressionist paintings to sculptures crafted from materials such as stainless steel, glass, and wood.

Creations by artists such as Ombok Villamor, Nante Carandang, and Jinggoy Salcedo coexist with Espacio Diseño’s ergonomic and systems furniture, revealing how they can enhance each other and transform environments into their maximum potential.

“If the collectors would go to our office, they would immediately have an idea, ‘Oh, this artwork of Jing Panopio would look good in our lobby, or it would look good in our reception, would look good in the executive room…’ All they have to do is reimagine their current space,” Cauilan added.

The art of giving

Beyond transforming spaces, Espacio Diseño also strives to transform lives. Through the said exhibit, the company extends its mission toward a noble cause.

Proceeds from every artwork sold support the company’s beneficiaries, including the Rotary Club of Taguig West, World Vision Philippines, and Virlanie Foundation, organizations dedicated to uplifting children, families in need, and vulnerable communities.

“The company has been in existence for 20 years. And over the years, we've been blessed. So, we would like to give back to our society,” Cauilan believes in the power of support, especially through education for children, which can encourage or inspire them to excel in school and work harder for a brighter future.

Reimagine Spaces serves more than a showcase of artworks and furniture. By recommending artists’ works to clients and integrating them into their design, the company not only hig
