For Arkin Magalona AKA Barq, it’s not about riding the tides of fame to reach the top but about making a mark to last a legacy. His newest single ‘TUMATAK’ is a manifesto of this gritty determination to create something worthwhile rather than just blindly chasing eminence.

An imprint that lasts
Built from a personal space of creativity and an aim to blaze his own trail, ‘TUMATAK’ tells the story of Barq’s unwavering dedication to conquer pressure, take risks, and pursue his own dream on his own terms. "It reflects where I am right now: not just as an artist, but as a person."
This 2 minute, 59 second hip-hop work, recorded at Doppla Studio, was released on February 25, 2026 under Sony Music Entertainment. Produced by D. Vaughn, it features a heavy bass sonic delivery with razor-sharp lyricism inspired in part with the energy of ‘Gold On My Teeth’ by ClicKlak and Isaiah Falls.
Its production also combines booming beats with layered samples, including a vocal component from Barq's previous collaboration ‘Career High,’ with Manila-based creative Migswell.
Barq describes himself with this hard-hitting piece as a same old rendition of his identity but with “a different bite”.
"I’m like a fusion restaurant serving multiple flavors: it's up to you to pick from the current or old selections which food you would choose to try out."
The song showcases Barq’s personality and principle that makes it more raw and personal.
Who is Barq?
Arkin Magalona came from a bloodline already familiar in the limelight of the entertainment industry. He is the youngest son of the late Filipino rap legend Francis Magalona and his celebrity siblings include Maxene Magalona, Elmo Magalona, and Frank Magalona.
It was in October last year when he officially released his first single titled ‘Shake Dat Thang’ which he personally chose to make a statement that he wanted to redefine and shake things up in the scene.
