The intersection of fine art and mixology takes center stage in When Cocktails Imitate Art, a special collaboration between Fundación Sansó and The Spirits Library in Makati.
Serving from September 4 to October 4, the project reimagines the visual brilliance of five Juvenal Sansó paintings through cocktail-making, each carefully crafted to capture the artist's color, mood, and atmosphere.
Juvenal Sansó's artistry, whether in his radiant florals or his expressive Brittany landscapes, has long been admired for its ability to evoke grandeur and serenity. The Spirits Library, celebrated for its refined approach to cocktails, draws inspiration from these qualities to develop drinks that mirror the emotional power of the works.
The result is a multisensory experience between art and mixology.
In En Vase Floral "With Grandiosity and Splendor," Sansó's florals are reborn in a vibrant mix of Martinique Rhum, Chamomile, and Cherry Cordial, topped with foam.
The turquoise shades of A Universe of Things transform into gin, Génépi Liqueur, and Blue Curacao, complemented by Kinchay Flowers. In contrast, Stars of the Earth adopts deeper, richer tones, featuring a smoky, layered composition of Código Blanco, Cognac, Mezcal, Bénédictine, and Osmanthus Tea.
From his framed Brittany Series, Exalted in Surf and Rocks arrives as a sparkling flute of Prosecco, Elderflower Cordial, and Peach, made dramatic by chocolate rocks that transform the flavor mid-sip. Calm Sea Spray brings tranquility in a refreshing mix of Havana Club, Pineapple Aloe Cordial, Olive Brine, and Jasmine Tea, echoing Sansó's contemplative seascapes.
The experience extends beyond the glass. Each of these Sansó masterpieces will be exhibited within the cozy corners of The Spirits Library, allowing visitors to admire the artwork firsthand while savoring its alcoholic interpretation.
More than a novel pairing, When Cocktails Imitate Art also supports the future of Philippine creatives. Ten percent of the proceeds from Sansó cocktails will go toward Fundación Sansó's scholarship, ensuring that each sip contributes to the next generation of Filipino artists.
Limited-edition glassware, hand-painted by contemporary artists, will also be available, adding another artistic layer to every evening.
When Cocktails Imitate Art is more than a creative experiment—it is a toast to Juvenal Sansó's lasting influence, and a way to connect art with everyday life.
Co-presented with Martell, Código 1530, Havana Club, and Beefeater, catch this unique collaboration at The Spirits Library at 4963 Guerrero Street, Makati City, open daily from 6 PM to 3 AM.
