From the Daigdigan set in the Spanish colonial era to the world of Gen Z content creators, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) begins its main theater season with a daunting reflection of traditi`on and technology in “Kislap at Fuego” and “Children of the Algo” from January 27 to February 7, 2026.
Debuting at PETA Control + Shift: Changing Narratives in 2024 and 2025, the duo evolved into fan-favorites due to their bold and experimental nature, which worked perfectly in challenging the status quo.

In their third installment, PETA welcomes broader audiences from educational institutions and the public to view the compelling twinbill performance that juxtaposes two different generations, all in a single ticket.
Dominique La Victoria’s “Kislap at Fuego,” directed by Maribel Legarda and J-mee Katanyag, with Filipino translation by Gentle Mapagu, winds back time as it centers on the unexpected fairytale love story between a Kapre and a country girl during the Philippine uprising against Spanish colonization.

As we explore the breadth of love between Kislap and Fuego, we are also pushed into the paradigms of rebirth and revolution.
In contrast, Mixkaela Villalon’s “Children of the Algo,” directed by Johnnie Moran, thrusts audiences into the future—and into the lives of Gen Z content creators outside the camera—to reveal deeper realities that push us to look beyond the algorithm.

In a world where identity is curated, justice is hashtagged, and meaning is constantly negotiated within and against algorithms, “Children of the Algo” ponders the question of how we stay relevant and connected, yet also truthful in a world of bite-sized feeds and viral narratives.
In the juxtaposition of folklore and the internet, the twinbill performance invites reflection into how Filipino values persist, adapt, or are contested across generations—in true PETA Control + Shift’s narrative change spirit.
