After two decades in the making, acclaimed contemporary artist Kublai Millan presents Other Half, a deeply personal solo exhibition that reflects on love, gratitude, struggle, and the unseen forces that shape a life. On view from August 3 to 13, 2026, at Art Lounge Manila – The Podium, the exhibition unveils a body of work that could only have emerged through the passage of time.

Having spent years sharing stories through his art, Millan now reveals what he calls “the other half”—the quiet, often overlooked presence that gives meaning to every achievement, failure, and transformation. Other Half is an intimate meditation on the people, experiences, and moments that complete the human spirit.

“I have already shared my story, but that is only half of it. This series is the other half.”

The exhibition reflects on life’s silent companions—the loved ones who remain behind the scenes, the hardships that become life’s greatest teachers, and the moments of joy that give purpose to perseverance. It is a heartfelt acknowledgment that no journey is ever truly traveled alone.

Across the series, Millan revisits decades of memories, measuring not only his triumphs but also the challenges that shaped his character. He reflects on nights spent searching for meaning, periods of uncertainty, and the patience required to let wisdom reveal itself over time.

A recurring image throughout the exhibition, the moon serves as its central metaphor. Like its ever-changing phases, life moves through cycles of fullness and emptiness, light and shadow. Yet beneath every transformation lies an enduring sense of wholeness.

“This is my moon phase,” Millan shares. “The changing of light cast in the days, nights, months, and years of searching for meaning.”

Rendered in his signature visual language of vibrant colors, symbolic figures, and layered narratives, the works celebrate emotional resilience, human connection, and the quiet strength found in shared lives. Each canvas captures the delicate balance between personal ambition and the relationships that sustain it.

Ultimately, Other Half is an expression of gratitude. It honors unseen sacrifices, shared dreams, and enduring love—the invisible threads that make life’s journey whole. The exhibition reminds viewers that even in moments that feel incomplete, life itself remains abundant.

As Millan writes in his artist statement:

“Life may sometimes look less or empty, but it has never diminished. It is always full and filled.”

With Other Half, Kublai Millan invites audiences to reflect on their own untold stories—to recognize the people and experiences that have quietly shaped and completed them, and to find beauty in every phase of becoming.
