Every barkada has a Mara. She’s the one who picks the date, finds the place, reminds everyone to show up, and somehow remembers whose birthday is coming. She keeps the whole group together, and she rarely asks for anything back.
This November, as we kickoff the holiday season, Starbucks Philippines hands the planning over to everyone else.
Starbucks Traditions, one of the country’s most anticipated holiday rituals, returns for its 24th year in the Philippines. The theme is “Wrapped in Joy,” and it’s all about the little surprises that tend to mean the most: a thoughtful gesture, an unexpected visit, a plan made just for you.
Meet Mara: “Kami Naman”
The season’s brand film, “Kami Naman” (“It’s our turn”), follows Mara, the friend who always organizes the get-togethers. This time, her friends turn the tables as they surprise her at Starbucks with a planner that’s already filled with gatherings they’ve planned for her across the entire year.
The film is set to “With a Smile” by OPM icons the Eraserheads, a fitting soundtrack for a story about love and effort coming back around. You can also hear the song in Starbucks stores nationwide from November 3 to January 4, for you to hum along with your holiday drink.
Five Little Gifts, Wrapped in Copper
The 2027 Starbucks Traditions Collection grows to five pieces, up from four last year. Each is designed to look like a present waiting to be unwrapped, in a palette of warm copper, ivory and black, with swirling patterns and woven textures.
The Siren Planner with Pouch is the heart of this year’s collection, It is a weekly planner with zodiac-inspired monthly artworks and a woven-texture cover. Inside the set you’ll find a pen, a copper pouch, and a surprise keychain in one of five designs, which you only discover once you open it.
The next is the travel case with a towel and is the first travel case in Traditions history! The ivory hard case has a ridged, luggage-inspired finish and comes with a towel. It’s a tidy home for every travel essential and a very good excuse to plan a trip.
Swirling copper waves on ivory, a 20oz stainless steel tumbler with a flip-top straw and a built-in carry handle, so your daily coffee ritual can go wherever the day does.
The 24oz cold cup is filled with sparkling champagne glitter and topped with a sleek black lid. It also comes with festive coffee cherry leaves as a straw topper, which keeps the straw covered.
The 20oz glass mug is the newest product. It fades from black to transparent and carries a vertical Starbucks wordmark. It comes with a straw and suits coffee, tea or whatever you’re sipping, at home or at your neighborhood Starbucks.
The Travel Case and the Glass Mug are the two newcomers this year.
The Sticker Race is On
For many Filipinos, Traditions is a game as much as a collection: friends and families comparing sticker counts and racing to finish their cards before the new year.
The rules are simple. Starting November 3 to January 4, 2027, every Tall, Grande, or Venti handcrafted beverage you buy in Starbucks stores nationwide earns one e-sticker, whether you collect through the Starbucks App or a QR Promo Card.
Once you’ve gathered the 19 e-stickers, you can trade them in for one item of your choice from the 2027 collection, with redemption open until March 5, 2027. That leaves plenty of time to pick a favorite, and plenty of reasons to squeeze in one more coffee catch-up with the barkada.
A Tradition since 2004
Starbucks Traditions began with its first collection in 2004, and over the years the planner has carried countless Filipinos through the year ahead.
Twenty-four holiday seasons later, it still comes back to the same idea: the people who make the holidays special for everyone else deserve a surprise of their own.
So this season, think of the Mara in your life. Maybe it’s time you wrote her name in the planner.
