Barefoot Theatre Collective brings back the well-acclaimed stage musical Mula sa Buwan for its 2024 run! Following the staggering success of its previous run with Bar Boys: A New Musical and the international critical acclaim of Mula sa Buwan’s proshot last year, Barefoot Theatre continues to highlight original Filipino voices with this limited run.

The production made its original debut back in 2011 and has since enjoyed several successful runs at the GSIS Theater and Hyundai Hall in Arete. Now, it will return in August 2024! Mula sa Buwan will be back at the Samsung Performing Arts Theatre from its 2022 production for a limited run from August 16 to September 8, 2024.

Why Mula sa Buwan is a Must-See for Filipino Theatergoers

This heart-wrenching stage production is an adaptation of the original play Cyrano de Bergerac, centered on unrequited love and heartbreak through the story of the main character, Cyrano. This adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s classic further tugs at Filipino heartstrings, already drawn to hugot love stories, with its setting in 1940s Manila.

The love story intertwines with the Filipino struggle during the ongoing war at the time and the search for identity, both internally through the characters and collectively through the voice of the Filipinos during this period. These themes have resonated with Filipino hearts for 13 years, and its vibrant performances and striking storytelling continue to captivate, only escalating in intensity with each run.

What to Expect for Mula sa Buwan

Previous audiences of the play can expect a much more spectacular take on their beloved production, especially with its charismatic main cast reprising their roles for this 2024 run: Myke Salomon as Cyrano, Gab Pangilinan as Roxane, and MC Dela Cruz as Christian. Salomon will also return as Musical Director, with Mikko Angeles as Director.
