Hiraya Collection UNICEF Cards for Every Occasion
In a pioneering collaboration that unites artistic expression with meaningful social advocacy, UNICEF Philippines and Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK), the country’s premier collective of children’s book illustrators, proudly unveil the Hiraya Collection.
This limited-edition line of all-occasion cards and merchandise goes beyond traditional gifting, turning each item into a vibrant symbol of hope and a tangible contribution to the future of vulnerable children.
Hiraya, a beautiful Filipino word that embodies deep hope and aspiration, captures the heart of this collection. Each design in the Hiraya Collection vividly portrays the joyful childhood every child deserves, transforming every purchase into a meaningful gift with purpose.
This initiative marks a significant shift for UNICEF Philippines, as it is their “first time releasing an all-occasion line of cards,” expanding beyond their traditional Christmas season launches.
Carmen Gonzalez Ortiz, UNICEF Philippines Chief of Private Sector Fundraising, emphasizes that the Hiraya Collection perfectly exemplifies “how art and advocacy can come together to tell stories of children all year round and promote life-changing programs that will bring them a step closer to a brighter future.
Children’s rights through illustrations
At the core of the Hiraya Collection's artistic integrity and advocacy power are the unique designs by Ang INK artists, each inspired by their fondest childhood memories. These pieces not only connect and celebrate but also give hope, making every item a meaningful gift.
Iori Espiritu
Iori Espiritu, a ceramic artist and illustrator known for her nature-inspired works, took a more purposeful turn for UNICEF. Her piece, “Sama-Sama, Salo-Salo,” beautifully illustrates children gathering ingredients for a shared meal–delivering a powerful message about the importance of proper nutrition and access to healthy food for every child.
Kat Melo
Designer and illustrator Kat Melo draws inspiration from her own idyllic childhood in her piece, “Sayaw ng Santan.” The artwork captures a moment of pure playfulness and carefree joy, portraying children dancing and crafting bracelets from Santan flowers—a beloved Filipino childhood pastime. Through this vibrant imagery, Melo offers a gentle reminder of the joy and freedom every child deserves.
Al Estrella
Al Estrella, a full-time elementary school teacher and illustrator, has passionately chosen education as his subject. His piece, “Pangalawang Tahanan” or “Second Home,” reflects his strong belief that learning transcends classroom walls and that schools are truly a second home for children. Estrella emphasizes that “education is an important part of youth, and it is their right to have quality education.”
Investment in a child's future
Every single purchase from the Hiraya Collection is more than just acquiring a beautiful item; it is a direct investment in a child's future, helping to make the dream of a better life a reality. Proceeds from the collection support UNICEF’s vital programs for children across key areas, including education, health and nutrition, immunization, child protection, climate and environmental resilience, and emergency response.

Your support can mean a child’s first day at school, access to life-saving nutrition, or the protection they urgently need during a crisis. In 2024 alone, thanks to generous contributions, UNICEF delivered emergency supplies to over 26,000 children affected by landslides and floods—powerfully demonstrating the real, life-changing impact of continued support.
