The Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) is hosting the fourth edition of the Manila Interior Design Summit (MIDS) from September 30 to October 3, 2026, across various design destinations in Metro Manila. Marking the PIID’s 62nd anniversary, this year’s theme—“Designing New Worlds: Culture, Cities, and Future of South East Asia”—seeks to establish a distinct, unclaimed voice for Filipino design within the regional landscape by grounding it on the nation’s innate culture of care, comfort, and human-scaled design.
The four-day multidisciplinary program moves through six core tracks examining human experience, future urban living, sustainability, hospitality design, adaptive reuse, and new material technologies.
The summit opens on Day 1 at The Fifth at Rockwell with the PIID anniversary celebration and the launch of two major exhibitions: Collective 8, featuring progressive Filipino design innovators including Vito Selma, Leeroy New, Milo Naval, Rita Nazareno + Gabby Lichauco, Jed Yabut, Iñigo Elizalde, JJ Acuna for Venzon, and JB Woodcraft alongside design vignettes at Poliform and Flexiform by leading architects and designers Ed Calma, Carlo Calma, Alex Co, Anton Mendoza, and Alfred Wieneke.
4th Manila Interior Design Summit (MIDS)
Day 2 shifts focus to crafted interiors across Manila design hubs such as Kuysen, Casa Bella, Karrivin Plaza, and Oppein. Delegates will participate in rotating discussions and tours led by industry leaders such as Alex Josephson, Ar. Ramon Antonio, IDr. Rossy Rojales, and IDr. Chat Fores covering topics ranging from artificial intelligence in design to multigenerational family living. The rest of the day is dedicated to walking tours and interactive experiences at Abitare, Tamarind Place, and Fashion Interiors, with dinner and cocktails at Levanto.
Day 3 explores future urban living and how space carries us forward, taking delegates on immersive tours through Bonifacio Global City design hubs including Focus Global, Hooga, SMEG, Dexterton, and CWC Interiors.
The summit culminates on Day 4 at the Proscenium Theater with a high-level design symposium synthesizing the week’s inquiries. This final day brings together an elite roster of international speakers—including Alex Josephson from Toronto, Takae Ito from Tokyo, Carlos Arnaiz from New York, Defit Wijaya from Bali, and Satoshi Ohashi from Beijing—in dialogue with Ar. Edwin Uy, IDr. Tina Periquet, and Ed Calma.
IDr. Cecil P. Ravales, National President of the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers, notes, “Through this week, PIID stakes the Philippine claim in the regional and international design conversation: one anchored in warmth, in hospitality, and in the humanity our culture has always brought to a room.”
