Flying miles to the bustling state-of-the-art convention center in Busan, South Korea, a lineup of masterpieces from five artists reinterpreted contemporary art settings at the Improv Art Gallery booth at Art Busan 2026.
Recognized as one of Asia’s leading contemporary art fairs, Art Busan gathers galleries, collectors, and artists from across the region and beyond for an expansive presentation of modern and contemporary art. Held at BEXCO in Busan, the annual fair has become a key platform for cultural exchange and emerging artistic conversations in Asia.
Featuring works of E.S.L. Chen, Jared Yokte, Melissa Yeung Yap, Randy Solon, and R.M. de Leon, the showcase brings a collection that crosses the borders of materiality, abstraction, identity, and memory—waving beyond the usual sensibilities associated with Filipino contemporary art.
Improv Art Gallery’s impressive assemblage spanned multiple media and artistic processes, spotlighting transformation through diverse approaches to art-making, including distinctive personal reflections, meditative figuration, and vernacular material traditions.
This presentation marks the gallery’s first international art exhibition participation and coincides with its first anniversary, making it a special milestone for the books.
“Art Busan 2026 marks an important milestone for Improv Art Gallery as we celebrate our first anniversary while presenting Filipino contemporary artists on an international platform. Through this presentation, we hope to contribute to wider conversations surrounding contemporary Philippine art and its evolving visual languages,” said Barbara San Diego, Improv Art Gallery Director.
Since its inception last year, the gallery has remained dedicated to spotlighting works by emerging and established Filipino artists, aiming to make local talent visible in the global contemporary art scene.
