Zambulat: Arts and Music Festival Returns for its Second Year

CASA San Miguel, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), is thrilled to announce the return of Zambulat: Arts and Music Festival returns for its second year this coming May 24 to 26, 2024. First held in February 2020, the festival aims to promote and celebrate the arts and culture of the Zambales region through workshops, booths, exhibits, and musical performances.
After a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CASA San Miguel, a community arts center located in San Antonio, Zambales, is bringing back the beloved event. “We are beyond excited to have another chance to do Zambulat. 2019 was a huge success not just for us but for the talents of Zambaleńos, and we hope to do the same this year and more,” says founder Alfonso “Coke” Bolipata.
The long-awaited event kicked off earlier last April with screen printing and woodcraft workshops and has since included six other workshops: cyanotype, rubbercut printmaking, crochet, filmmaking, and mural painting. Mentors of these workshops include Gilbert Dela Cruz, Taj Hassan Tadeo, Alynnah Macla-Tadeo, Eunice Sanchez, Desire Demanalata, 3G Hagoods Artist Group, Marc Cosico, and Rox Lee. Additionally, a kite-making competition and mural painting activity is also in store for excited participants.
The festival will officially open on May 24, 2024, with a Kapihan (roundtable talk) about the Creative Industry, joined by author Congressman Christopher De Venecia and DTI Undersecretary Rafaelita Aldaba. While this opening event is private, the rest of the booths and exhibitions will be free and open to the public. The culminating celebration will continue on until May 25 - 26, 2024 at the CASA San Miguel grounds starting 10 AM to 7 PM, free admission.
Attendees can look forward to musical performances by the Pundaquit Virtuosi, the Republic Brass Band of San Antonio, and local band Eyes Too Big, as well as exhibits featuring CASA San Miguel resident artists, Obra Zambaleño, and Olongapo-Zambales Artists (OZA). On top of that, the workshop outputs from the students of Luzon Technical Institute (LTI), Dalmacio-Pablo Carpio National High School (DPCNHS), San Miguel Elementary School (SMES), and participants from PREDA Foundation - Subic will also be displayed.

Other activities include storytelling sessions from NHCP Team Monching volunteers, Dinamulag Festival 2024 float exhibit, and free entrance to CASA San Miguel’s galleries and film-viewing corners. Through its partnership with DTI, Zambulat will also highlight a trade fair showcasing Zambales-based products and cuisine through various booths and concessionaires.
“Zambulat 2024 represents the creative spirit of our community, and to share that with the public is an absolute honor,” says Bolipata. “We invite everyone to join us in celebrating what Zambales has to offer.”
