Still from Stuck on You

“Gusto rin namin ma-feel nila yung validation na they’re enough. Na kung ano man yung effort na nilalagay nila para sa ibang tao, they should also put it for themselves.”

In an exclusive interview with Art+ Magazine, Xyriel Manabat and River Joseph, who plays Sheryl Bunga and Max De Dios in the Puregold Cinepanalo Film Stuck on You, mentioned what they wanted the viewers to feel after watching the film.

For them, the film is a sexy-funny reminder to someone that choosing themselves can also be an act of love to the loved ones they wholeheartedly support.

Xyriel adds, “Parang kung gaano nila kabuwis-buhay, kanda kayod-kayod, na buhayin yung pamilya nila, dapat ginagawa rin nila ‘yun para buhayin yung sarili nila. So with both Sheryl and Max, sana ganun din yung ma-feel ng audience after. Na ma-tap niyo rin yung sarili niyo sa likod na parang oo nga noh? Ako naman muna after ng movie na ito.”

Stuck on You is a feel-good romance-comedy film about a manicurist turned hired killer Sheryl Bunga (Xyriel Manabat) who is randomly tasked to kill Max De Dios (River Joseph), her ultimate crush, in exchange for the safety of her family and a big sum of money.

The film features the questionable, not-so-imaginable fantasy dreams and choices of Sheryl along with her comical misadventures about finding love, assurance, and work “rakets”.

According to Mikko Baldoza, the movie’s director, this movie was never meant to be released for a festival because it was written supposedly for the pandemic by Arden Rod Condez and Sonny Calvento.

“As for the inspiration, nakuwento nila sa akin na during the pandemic, parang restricted ang lahat, stuck ang lahat sa mga bahay natin. So, parang nasulat nila ito to tell us na even if the world seems to stop, yung story ay hindi napipigilan. Yung kwento ay patuloy pa rin. And ang tao ay pwede pa rin magkwento,” he traced back.

More than that, Mikko tells the viewers to watch the movie comfortably without overthinking it because they wanted this movie to appeal as a happy and chill one.

“Basta tumawa ka, mag-enjoy ka. Parang ganun siya, na bigyan natin ng day off yung sarili natin sa kung anong mga bumabagabag sa isip natin. And then tumawa tayo, maging happy tayo.”

In a good almost two-hour film, remember to laugh freely and rediscover a renewed shade of love to yourself and your family. The cast of Stuck on You invites us to watch the film and find a reason to take a break and be happy.

Watch “Stuck on You” at Gateway Cineplex and select Ayala Malls theater from September 23 to October 4 to understand why it gets stuck on viewers' minds.
