By now, Manila’s nightlife aficionados know Poblacion isn’t just a neighborhood—it’s an ecosystem of characters, corners, and curiosities. And nestled a few steps away from the ever-charming Dr. Wine, a new haunt has quietly claimed its stake in the terrain of revelry: Velveteen House.

A Velvet-Tinted Dream

Velveteen House is more than just a bar—it’s a cinematic experience swirled in candlelight, laced in jazz, and punctuated by impeccable cocktails. Its name evokes soft rebellion. Inside, warm wood panels, vintage décor, and the hush of old-timey glamour take you elsewhere—somewhere between 1920s speakeasy and an avant-garde Parisian lounge.

Downstairs, the cozy bar beckons those craving intimate conversation and serious mixology. Upstairs? A den for dancing and intrigue—complete with a DJ and a series of private rooms that feel part Gatsby, part Alice in Wonderland after dark.

The House That Mischief Built

At Velveteen, the events are less like parties and more like portals. On May 2nd, ESPOLÒN Tequila joined the house in what could only be described as a spirited Battle of Puebla-cion. Guests picked cards, sipped with abandon, and encountered the likes of Zoe, the Unlicensed Therapist, and Markydudeee, the cosmic server shuffling through the crowd like a tequila-fueled comet.

And when Saturday, June 28th rolled around, the evening turned softer—an invitation to pause. With @deevdario and @manomission steering the sonic vibe, guests were gently reminded: the world can wait. You, however, should not.

Then there are the whispers of Noir or Never—a one-night-only, velvet-roped affair crafted by Samantha and Tomato, where secrets moved faster than the drinks. Velvet shadows, clinking glasses, and barely-there glances—proof that when Velveteen throws a private party, you don’t just attend. You slip into character.

Find Yourself Here

Located at 5937 Gloria Street corner Jacobo, Velveteen House is less of a map point and more of a mood. The brainchild of a spirited French expat with a dream of transforming Manila’s nocturnal narrative, it’s the kind of place where you stay longer than planned—and leave with more stories than you arrived with.

From the first pour to the final beat, Velveteen doesn’t shout. It seduces. And that might just be the magic Poblacion didn’t know it was missing.

Open from 7 PM until late Stay a while… or don’t—but you’ll probably want to.
