In the serene setting of Patio Pilar, Ermita, an intimate and deeply moving solo art exhibit titled “Beauty for Ashes” unfolded from February 29 to March 2. This exhibition aimed not only to showcase skillful artistry but also served as a profound testament to the enduring power of love, resilience, and faith in the face of loss.

At the heart of this exhibit is Kristine Soguilon-Lim, a celebrated, premier, and multi-awarded missionary visual artist from the Philippines. Her son, John Keizer Lim, departed this world on December 5, 2019, leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration. Through this exhibit, Kristine chose to honor her son's memory in a manner that echoed his spirit—a celebration of life, creativity, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

Beams of warm light washed over the rustic Filipino interior of Patio Pilar as “Beauty for Ashes” unfolded. Unlike typical art exhibitions, Kristine eschewed grand opening ceremonies and flashy presentations. Instead, she embraced a more profound approach, opting for a setting of solemnity and intimacy. Here, attendees were not merely spectators but immersed themselves fully in the emotional depth of her artworks.

The altruistic purpose of “Beauty for Ashes” makes it even more remarkable. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the exhibit will be donated to families in selected hospitals’ Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs).

Ultimately, “Beauty for Ashes” becomes a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, the enduring power of love, and the transformative beauty that emerges from the ashes of loss. Through her art and generosity, Kristine has turned her tragedy into a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who encounter her work.

For art collectors with a penchant for philanthropy, “Beauty for Ashes” offers a unique opportunity to acquire exquisite artworks while contributing to a noble cause.
