MUJI Philippines introduces a quieter kind of innovation with the launch of its 26S/S Kapok Collection, a line of everyday garments that balances thoughtful design with environmental care.
Rooted in MUJI’s philosophy of simplicity and purpose, the collection makes use of Kapok, a natural fiber harvested from trees native to Southeast Asia, offering a gentle approach to dressing that feels as good as it looks.
Sustainable spirit from the tropics
Featuring Kapok Fiber
The story of the Kapok Collection begins with the tree itself. Kapok trees thrive naturally with very little water, fertilizer, or chemical intervention, making them a low-impact alternative to more resource-intensive fibers.
Long valued for its soft, cotton-like texture and traditionally used as cushion filling, Kapok has been reworked by MUJI into fabric that reflects both environmental awareness and modern utility.
Innovative comfort for the country’s climate
Designed with the tropics in mind, Kapok offers comfort that feels almost effortless. Known as one of the lightest natural fibers in the world, its hollow structure allows air to circulate freely, keeping the fabric breathable and airy throughout the day.
The material absorbs moisture while helping regulate temperature, making it comfortable in both indoor and outdoor settings. Soft to the touch and gentle on the skin, Kapok lends itself naturally to pieces meant for daily wear in the Philippine climate.
Versatile styles and earthy palettes
The collection features 13 new styles for men and women, ranging from relaxed workwear to easy, casual silhouettes. Shirts, coveralls, and double-gauze blouses form the core of the lineup, designed to move seamlessly between professional and personal moments.
Staying true to MUJI’s understated aesthetic, the color palette includes dark navy, medium gray, natural, saxe blue stripe, off-white, light yellow, light blue, gray stripe, black, and khaki. Each piece is made for versatile layering, whether worn with tailored pants or styled over dresses for a refined yet relaxed look.
