From December 9 to 11, The Manila’Bang Show 2022 Contemporary Art: The Manila Way returns with another big show at the Festival Mall Alabang. The show continues its legacy by exhibiting prominent and emerging contemporary artists from the Philippines and the international art scene.

Composed of a curatorial team and artists working with diverse mediums, The Manila’Bang Show 2022 is a collaborative effort engaged in creative processes and production through mindful courses of action reflecting conditions of contemporary times. The show covers over 2,500-sqm of space, offering free admission to the public to experience many select pieces and curated exhibitions. The show is led by artistic director Alain Zedrick Camiling and organized by Contemporary ArtFairs ManilaPH.

Featured works continue the legacy of explicating ‘the animate proof of life’ from its debut, but this year, The Manila’Bang Show envisions a bigger and better show. Shining the light on the progressiveness and immense talent of Filipino artists, while also highlighting the ferocity of the art market with Manila at its center, the show’s artistic direction turns towards ‘Contemporary Art: The Manila Way.’ It reinforces its proposal to examine the quotidian through a myriad of idiosyncrasies suggestive of ways to rethink, prospect, and respond. With this credo, the name of the show is a nod to its history from Alabang in the 1980s when Big Bang Alabang, a fair in the South filled with commercial activities and entertainment, was once a communal staple.

This year, The Manila’Bang Show 2022 prides itself on its collaborative relationship with its partners from over 20+ galleries and 300+ artists, including practitioners of different mediums in contemporary art—from installations to art toys and the crypto-digital world of NFTs. The show ruminates on steadfast affinities, committed to the growth and development of the contemporary art ecosystem, as well as cultural and creative industries.

Geared towards expanding conversation on contemporary ways of thinking is a four-part dialogue series on collecting and art market, NFTs and the digital sphere, art and abodes, contemporary art management and handling, photography, on-site free workshops, and many more. This public programming titled Art Talks 2022: Interchange will be graced by diverse professionals and practitioners across the arts, culture, and creative industries ecosystem.

The Manila’Bang Show 2022 opens to the public from December 9 to 11, 2022 at Festival Mall Alabang. For more details, visit the show’s website (http://www.themanilabangshow.com)or Facebook (www.facebook.com/themanilabangshow) and Instagram (@themanilabangshow) pages.
