Michael Orlina, son of renowned glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, is emerging as a rising star in the art world—following in his father’s footsteps but also carving his own niche with the same medium: glass. Michael is not only developing his artistic identity, but is also committed to continuing his father’s legacy of inspiration.
A spark of admiration

Growing up with the celebrated sculptor, Michael developed a great admiration for his father’s craft. He recalls the lessons learned both as a son and as an artist.
"He has always been a mentor. As a father, he teaches me how to live. It has now become inspiration, drive, belief, support—all the good things you can think of," Michael shared.
This admiration has evolved into a meaningful mentorship, transforming their relationship from father and son to mentor and apprentice.
Passion and perseverance

Witnessing his father’s steadfast dedication, Michael adopted many of the same values. One lesson that stood out to him was the importance of persistence.
“He has said it himself too—that if he thinks about something, it’s going to happen. Manifesting King!” he laughed. “Seriously though, he has this attitude that makes him find ways.”
Michael admires his father’s drive and his ability to find solutions while knowing when to wait for the right moment—a balance he strives to emulate in his own artistic journey.
Finding his own path

Though Michael shares his father’s name and works with the same medium, he is intentionally building his own artistic identity, experimenting with different themes and techniques.
"Though it is in our themes and narratives that we differ, there is so much to learn and I hope to delve deeper into that,” he explained.

Working alongside Ramon in the family studio is an experience Michael describes as a "great honor." With his father's support, Michael continues to explore new methods and opportunities, expanding his artistic career.
Growing up under the guidance of a master and a loving father, Michael remains rooted in his family’s legacy while allowing himself the space to innovate and grow.
