Finnish lifestyle design house Marimekko and its loose-franchise partner, Rustan’s, celebrated the opening of the first Marimekko shop-in-shop in the Philippines at Rustan’s Makati on 8 October 2026.

Founded in Finland in 1951, Marimekko is known for its bold prints, vibrant colors, and designs that have become part of everyday life around the world. From fashion and accessories to home furnishings, the brand has always had a distinctive way of looking at design, creating pieces that stand out while remaining easy to live with. Its signature prints, many of which have become classics in their own right, reflect an appreciation for creativity, craftsmanship, and the art of printmaking.

The new shop-in-shop brings together Marimekko’s fashion, bags and accessories, and a selection of home products, giving Filipino customers the opportunity to discover more of the brand in one place. The opening also marks another step in Marimekko’s growing presence in Southeast Asia, where around 27 stores and online shops currently serve customers in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

“The Philippines is an attractive developing market for Marimekko, and we see this as a good time to introduce our brand to consumers and gain experience in partnership with our loose-franchise partner Rustan’s. Bringing our joyful lifestyle design concept, rooted in the art of printmaking, to the market is a natural step in strengthening Marimekko’s presence in dynamic Southeast Asia. We look forward to expanding the Marimekko retail network in the Philippines gradually together with Rustan’s,” says Natacha Defrance, Senior Vice President, Sales, Region East at Marimekko.

The opening is part of Marimekko’s 2023–2027 strategy, which focuses on growing its international business. Asia remains the company’s most important region for international growth. Marimekko now has more than 180 stores and shop-in-shops worldwide, with over 100 located in Asia.

Rustan’s, which represents around 100 international brands in the Philippines, including Chloé, Longchamp, and Kate Spade, provides a natural home for Marimekko’s unique approach to fashion and lifestyle design. The partnership offers an opportunity to introduce the brand to more Filipino customers and build its presence in the market over time.

Marimekko is available at Rustan’s Makati and Rustan’s Shangri-La, as well as online at Rustans.com.
