Jor-El Espina’s Creative Sanctuary

Stepping inside Jor-El Espina’s Atelier Manila urges one not simply to shop, but to rouse the curiosity on the ingenuity of the designer and his skills in manipulating local fabrics.

Situated on the 7th floor of One Corporate Plaza in Arnaiz Avenue, Makati, the creative sanctuary highlights the stories of craft, creativity, and collaboration. Jor-El shares, “We didn’t just want to build a space to showcase our designs. Our intention was to create an immersive experience for our clients.”

The room is simply spacious for clients to leisurely browse and fit the pieces on display. For Jor-El, the atelier was designed to allow him to engage more personally with his patrons. Understanding his design, guests can freely have a deeper conversation and connection with the designer on his craft and commitment to contemporary Filipino design.

The atelier is also an extension of Jor-El Espina’s design codes. Filipino elegance and warmth, infused with modern industrial design sensibilities, echo throughout the expansive space. “We wanted it to feel intimate yet aspirational, a reflection of the women who wear our pieces.”

One side of the space functions as a display corner. Pieces on display pay homage to the rich textures, patterns, and intricate details borne from the Philippines’ rich culture of craft. The atelier has also inspired a thoughtful expansion into other lifestyle categories.

Artisanal accessories and a tight edit of home pieces add a new dimension to the Jor-El Espina retail experience. The atelier will also be home for special design collaborations as well as limited edition designs tailored just for the atelier’s clientele.
