This February, Rustan’s plays host to Herian, a Florentine bespoke eyewear house known for its meticulous craftsmanship and personal approach to design. Appearing in the Philippines for the first time, the brand presents an exclusive pop-up from February 5 to 8, inviting clients to engage with eyewear created entirely by hand.
At the heart of the experience is founder and creative director Herian Boccali, whose work redefines eyewear as something far more intimate than an accessory. Through one-hour private consultations (conducted by Boccali and/or his assistant), clients are guided through a process that places identity, proportion, and lifestyle at the forefront of design.
A Philosophy Shaped by Craft and Character
Herian Boccali, Founder and Creative Director of Herian
Boccali’s relationship with eyewear began early, growing up in his family’s optical shop in Florence. There, he developed respect for precision, fit, and the personal bond between frame and wearer—principles that continue to define Herian today.
“Glasses are not just accessories, but an integral part of the wearer’s identity,” Boccali explains. This belief underpins every Herian creation, informing decisions from form and material to the smallest finishing detail.
Each bespoke frame begins with conversation. During the consultation, clients explore silhouettes, materials, and finishes while discussing aesthetic preferences, daily habits, and individual needs. Custom elements — from tinting to subtle structural refinements — are welcomed, allowing the final piece to reflect both craftsmanship and personal expression.
Handcrafted in Florence
Herian frames are produced exclusively in the brand’s Florentine workshop using premium acetate or buffalo horn, materials chosen for their durability, natural beauty, and longevity. Every stage of production is completed by hand, prioritising quality and originality over speed. The result is eyewear that is understated yet distinctive, designed to be worn and appreciated over time.
Bespoke orders typically require 60 to 90 days for production and delivery to the Philippines. Pricing begins at ₱40,000, with final costs determined by the degree of customisation. All additional details and enhancements are discussed during the consultation and confirmed before production begins. Prescription lenses are not included, allowing clients to apply their own requirements through their preferred optical provider.
For those looking for immediate pieces, the pop-up also features a carefully curated selection of 25 to 30 ready-to-wear frames, available for purchase on-site and crafted with the same attention to detail.
Italian eyewear brand Herian makes its Philippine debut with an exclusive pop-up at Rustan’s Makati, running from February 5 to 8.
Following the pop-up, the Herian Ready-to-Wear collection will be available at Rustan’s Makati.
Herian’s Manila appearance is deliberately intimate and limited in duration — a reflection of the brand’s philosophy that true luxury lies in thoughtful creation rather than mass availability. For collectors, design enthusiasts, and discerning clients, the pop-up offers rare access to handcrafted Italian eyewear without leaving the city.
By introducing Herian to the local market, Rustan’s continues its tradition of curating meaningful luxury experiences—where craftsmanship, story, and personal connection take centre stage.
