As digital payment turns into a transaction staple, China Banking Corporation (Chinabank) is among the first local institutions to bring Google Pay to the Philippines, further digitalizing banking experience in Credit and Debit Cards, across Mastercard and Visa payment schemes, on November 18.
According to the bank, the partnership will bring convenience, flexibility, and security to cardholders’ online payment experience—championing the “Focused on You” brand promise by improving users’ day to day transactions—and taking a step forward to the country’s digital transformation.
“This initiative is part of our broader digital transformation strategy to make everyday banking more seamless, secure, and relevant to our customers’ changing lifestyles,” Chinabank Payment Solutions Head, Jose Julian Baduria Jr., said.

Chinabank’s goal is to provide cardholders freedom to pay however they want, wherever they are. With Google Pay, this goal is brought to life on our mobile phones.
According to Baduria, transactions via Google Pay are secured through the use of digital tokens, wherein actual card details are never shared or stored in your mobile device to prevent fraud.
“We’re proud to work with Chinabank to bring faster, convenient and more secure payments to the Philippines. This launch underscores our enduring commitment to accelerating financial inclusion and fueling the next chapter of the Philippines’ dynamic digital economy,” Prep Palacios, Country Manager for Google Philippines, said.
With Google Pay now supported, Chinabank cardholders can enjoy quick, tap-and-go payments in stores, one-click checkouts online, and seamless transactions in apps—no card, no hassle, just effortless checkout.
Every Google Pay transaction is secured through advanced tokenization and device authentication, giving Chinabank customers confidence with every tap.
To add and use Chinabank on your Google wallet, users may download Google Wallet from Playstore.
Open the app on your device before clicking the “Add to Wallet” button where you could select “Payment Card” to scan or manually select Chinabank Credit or Debit Card details. This would be followed by on-screen prompts for verification, after which, you’re good to go for daily transactions.
To use Google Pay in-store, you can hold it near a contactless payment terminal until a check mark appears, or a confirmation ring beeps. For online transactions, you can choose Google pay as a payment option where available at checkout.
The integration with Google Pay marks another step in Chinabank’s digital journey, offering a more intuitive, convenient, and future-ready payment experience for today’s mobile lifestyle.
As digital payments continue to rise, Chinabank’s collaboration with Google Pay is poised to accelerate the shift away from cash, offering cardholders fast, contactless, and highly secure transactions both locally and internationally.
Each transaction will use a unique digital card number or biometric verification (fingerprint or face unlock) to keep your personal and card information safe from fraud.
Focusing on customer onboarding, further usage guide will be released on later dates, as Chinabank is set to release a series of communication initiatives on using the Google Wallet, while also establishing support channels to assist new users on the transition.
