From the worlds of art and fashion to a curated home accessories collection—that’s what Jo Ann Bitagcol’s new pop-up concept brings to Powerplant Mall, Rockwell.

Celebrating Philippine Heritage

With over 25 years in the creative industry, Jo Ann Bitagcol’s career journey began as a model and photographer before transitioning into design. In 2020, she launched her personal brand, bitagcol, which draws inspiration from the rich tapestry of Philippine life, heritage, and culture. This unique fusion sets her designs apart from the crowd.

Her first collection featured scarves, and over time, it evolved into a diverse range of apparel and accessories—including t-shirt barongs, robes, dresses, aprons, and skirts—each a tribute to the country’s heritage.

A Fresh Experience

The theme of the pop-up, “Restart,” sees Bitagcol reimagining her prints and designs, offering a fresh take on her previous work. When asked about what visitors can expect at the pop-up, Bitagcol shared that the space revisits some of the brand’s most beloved prints, transforming them into stylish home accessories such as coasters, placemats, postcards, wooden trays, and more—perfect for incorporating a touch of heritage into any living space.

“It’s inspiring to hear that patrons of the brand want our heritage to be present everywhere,” Bitagcol expressed.

While the focus of the pop-up is on home decor, Bitagcol has also included a selection of clothing, including new long dresses and three new baro prints. These oversized scarves can be worn or framed, offering a versatile blend of fashion and visual art.

What to Expect

Bitagcol believes the reimagination of her past designs in new forms will pique interest and keep the experience exciting.

“We want the pop-up space to feel like home,” she said. “We sought to build an ideal platform to introduce home accessories to our collection. The pop-up may be at a new location, but it will remain as homey and welcoming as the studio.”

With this new direction, Bitagcol sees an opportunity to think outside the box—allowing her to move forward while remaining true to her aesthetic.

“I want to see my prints not just in fashion but as part of someone’s lifestyle,” she concluded with a smile.

By expanding her offerings, Bitagcol’s brand continues to promote Filipino culture and heritage in new and exciting ways. The opening of this pop-up is a significant moment for the brand, especially as the holiday season approaches.

Bitagcol’s pop-up is open now at the second floor of Powerplant Mall, Rockwell, Makati City, from November 2024 through January 2025.
