MaArte Fair, the annual shop-for-a-cause event, returned with new collections of world-class artisanal crafts and locally made products. Armed with a meaningful mission, the public had the chance to enjoy a purposeful shopping experience.

Endangered animals

This year, with the theme “Fab Finds with a Purpose,” MaArte raised awareness on the Philippines’ endangered fauna such as the tamaraw, Philippine eagle, crocodile, tarsier, and sea turtle.

The steadfast mission of the local bazaar, which is organized by the Museum Foundation of the Philippines, is to support the cultural and natural heritage programs of the National Museum of the Philippines, to spark and inspire positive change.

“More than bringing home beautiful and high-quality pieces, shoppers own badges of pride in sharing the awareness on heritage conservation, especially our endangered animals,” said Museum Foundation of the Philippines and MaArte Committee Chair Danny Jacinto.

Fab Finds

True to its theme, the bazaar offered fabulous finds by showcasing products by local merchants. One of them is the latest edition of Raja Watch, a local watch brand inspired by the deep blue waters of the Philippine seas.

Supporting Philippine textiles are La Bonne Vie and La Herminia Piña Weaving. La Bonne Vie promotes Ilocano culture and weavers’ artistry, while La Herminia Piña Weaving is among the biggest producers of traditional and high-quality piña fabric, handwoven piña cloth, piña silk, abaca, cotton, and more.

Visitors also browsed through handmade textile garments, locally made furniture, and handcrafted products by local artists and prominent brands across the Philippines.

Cultural Heritage

With the participation of talented and passionate Filipino merchants, MaArte Fair celebrated the diversity and uniqueness of the Philippines’ cultural heritage and abundant natural resources.

MaArte Fair ran from August 29 to September 1 at The Peninsula Manila hotel.
