The last hurrah for OT5!

On October 4, Filipino band Over October successfully held a special headline concert at the New Frontier Theater. Dubbed as Over October Live at the New Frontier Theater, this show served as the last performance of the group as a five-piece act and a special farewell tribute for Janae Geronimo.

After 12 years with the group, Janessa “Janae” Geronimo will be leaving the band to pursue another path outside of music. Janae has been the band’s drummer since their 2014 debut after Josh Buizon and Josh Lua asked her to be part of a group they’re starting.

Beyond the pivotal change, Over October also shared how this concert is also a fateful reminder of their music journey over the years represented by the curated setlist and lineup prepared for the fans.

“We also want this show to be a celebration of our journey together. We would also want joy to be one of the emotions our audience will experience. We can all look back on the journey so far and remind ourselves how far we’ve come, not just as a band but as a community.”

For this historic show, the group opened a whole new experience of music, artistry, and “pasabog” for the fans and themselves.

From the humble beginnings of a starting alternative five-member pop group to a 12-year-old 4-piece sold-out band, Over October is gearing up for a future still deeply connected to their passion for the music industry.

“It’s surreal, honestly. Filling up these venues was only just a dream of ours a few years back. We’d struggle even to fill up bar gigs, and now we’re filling up concert venues.”

The concert might be a fateful night to signal the end of an era but it was also a gracious reminder of what has been fulfilled, achieved, and forever remembered.
