The Embassy of Canada in the Philippines and Canada Beef collaborated with The Test Kitchen to host a socially distanced Chef’s Table Dinner featuring its very own Chef Josh Boutwood for industry partners and social media influencers.
Guests enjoyed a sumptuous course menu that gave them a pan-Canadian gastronomic experience featuring Canadian beef, Pacific and Atlantic seafood, wild blueberries from the province of Prince Edward Island, and wines from one of Canada’s well-loved terroirs in Niagara region, Ontario.
Ms. Lulu LeBlanc, Senior Trade Commissioner of the Embassy of Canada in the Philippines, graciously welcomed guests for the evening. “Last year may have been full of challenges, but Canada’s commitment to be a stable food supplier of the Philippines has never waned. In spite of the pandemic, our agri-food exports to the Philippine market increased by 34% in 2020.” Ms. LeBlanc said.
Guests were impressed with the special six-course dinner menu curated by Chef Josh Boutwood, the award- winning Executive Chef of The Bistro Group. Chef Boutwood masterfully explained how he prepared each dish and expertly described how the Canadian wines complemented the outstanding qualities of the Canadian ingredients in every dish, whetting everyone’s appetites.
The evening was a prelude to The Test Kitchen’s Canadian Steakhouse pop-up concept from March 9 to 11, 2021, giving serious food lovers an irresistible treat with Chef Boutwood’s mouth-watering à la carte menu.
“Canada is a proud partner of The Test Kitchen and the Bistro Group in expanding the presence of Canadian food ingredients in the Philippines,” said Ms. LeBlanc. “Chef Boutwood’s culinary talent have impressed us, and we look forward to seeing more exciting dishes from Chef Boutwood with our ingredients.”
