Over A Hundred Visual Artists and Writers Come Together Against Controversial Bill
Art+ Staff
The group Solidarity Against Silencing posted a collective statement expressing their disapproval of the controversial Anti-Terrorism Law. “While we condemn terrorism, we believe that this act can be used to justify abuses of power,” a quote lifted from the group’s statement. This line amplifies the concern of most Filipino citizens and critics who share their sentiments.
Solidarity Against Silencing is supported by over a hundred visual artists and writers that were recognized by Ateneo Art Awards. Their call for solidarity is brought about by their individual sense of duty as citizens. They have opened up their platform to artists and cultural workers who view this issue in the same light.
Collectively, they encourage citizens to continue to seek redress for the many injustices that have yet to be addressed and brought justice to.
