Nespresso Talents announces the winners for its 2021 vertical-format short film competition.
Small, noble actions serve as inspiration for this year’s Nespresso Talents. The annual #FilmCompetition highlights the efforts that tackle the challenges our world is currently facing through the theme ‘Doing is Everything’. Nespresso Talents Philippines received 71 film entries, establishing that the competition is getting further recognition in the country. Combining local and international submissions, 993 filmmakers participated in the global competition of Nespresso Talents 2021.

The winning film this year is Napamata Ako sa Sadit na Kinaban (I Woke Up On A Little Planet) by Arjanmar H. Rebeta. A man wakes up on a little planet and doesn’t find anything that interests him, so he sleeps on it. Eventually, he realizes that he should have started taking action from the very beginning because the planet depends on the person living on it. Rebeta gets a cash prize of 1,500€.

Second place: Ma by Dexter Paul De Jesus, showing a son’s longing for his mother who is a medical frontliner. De Jesus will receive 1,000€.

Third place: Special Delivery by Gerald Foliente (Sinematika Inc.). A story of a delivery man and his determination. Foliate will receive 500€.
Aside from the cash prize, all three winners will receive a Nespresso machine along with complimentary capsules, and a trophy. The finalists from the local (Nespresso Talents Philippines) category will automatically qualify for the International Nespresso Talents entries.
Other finalists include: Mr. Everything by Romel Cabuguang; PR 3953, NOW BOARDING by John Thomas Trinidad; Waves by Ian Palomar; PARA UMA (farmer) by John Kenneth Paclibar; SAKA NA (SOMEDAY) by Cheska Marfori; Bahay-bahayan (Playhouse) by Xyron Parapara; and 150+ Heads by Bennel Canlas.
Nespresso Talents 2021 panel of judges include award-winning director, screenwriter, and author Jose Javier Reyes, multi-awarded filmmaker Quark Henares, renowned actress, producer, director, screenwriter, and author Bela Padilla, Novateur Coffee Concepts Managing Director Patrick Pesengco, and Nespresso South East Asia Regional Business Development Manager Fabio de Gregorio.
The international winners will be announced on July 9 at the Nespresso Talents website.
