The Metropolitan Museum of Manila will have the virtual launching of the retrospective exhibition catalogue of PASSAGES: Celebrating the Artistic Journeys of Betsy Westendorp. The virtual launch will be held via Zoom and Facebook live on 27 February, Saturday at 4:00pm.
The catalogue launch is an insightful documentation of the retrospective exhibition of Betsy Westendorp currently ongoing at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. The retrospective features more than 100 works representing the artist’s development as a professional artist over a span of 60 years.
The catalogue author is well known art critic and writer Cid Reyes who will give a presentation and discussion of the artist’s invaluable contribution to Philippine art. Mr. Reyes will be sharing his insights on the life and career of the artist who made the Philippines her second home when she became the young bride of Antonio Brias, a Spanish Filipino who was studying in Europe in 1950.
The virtual launch will also bring together a panel of guests who have been a big part of the artist’s journey: Silvana Diaz, a member of the retrospective committee and David Bayot, the head of the De La Salle Publishing House who sponsored the publication. Moderating the conversation would be Arch Emmanuel Minana, who is also a member of the Retrospective Committee.
The Metropolitan Museum of Manila is closed to the public until further notice following the announcement of General Community Quarantine in Manila. Visit at http://metmuseum.ph, and follow their social media accounts for updates on their online programming.
