Expressing yourself with no boundaries has never been this bold and loud as the most awaited time of the year for art maniacs is waving at the fringe! Manila’s most diverse art festival, Fringe Manila, will be celebrating its 5th year of showcasing uncensored, multi-arts works and performances. It continues to be the flagship platform that is open to all artists and art enthusiasts from the corners of the Metro which is set to run from February 7 ‘til March 3 2019.
Festival Director, Andrei Nikolai Pamintuan, reminisced how Fringe Manila modestly started back in 2012 with the help of his friends he requested to be part of the program. As four editions of Finge MNL took place, it eventually caught on and is continuously labored in becoming bigger and better. With about 60 local and international artists combined, this will be one of the most participated arts event in the country.
“Artists used Fringe Manila as a springboard and platform to exercise their freedom of expression,” Pamintuan stressed during a press conference of Fringe Manila 2019 at the Pineapple Lab last Wedenesday. According to him, this festival gave freedom to the new and emerging artists in celebrating the arts they never had the chance to showcase and being more experimental in their own fields.
Some of the participating performers such as Raflesia Bravo (K-Raze), Lucinda (Lucinda’s Big Opening), and Burlesque PH’s Antoinette Noir (Bodabil), gave a little sneak peek of what’s in store for audiences this year.
For the visual artist component of the Fringe, artists Adam Red, Dar San Augustin, and Chino Carlo are ready to make their exhibition comebacks this February as part of the Fringe MNL Fest line up.
