Bearing a steadfast commitment to uplifting Filipino arts and culture, Ayala Foundation Chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala and the entire Zobel de Ayala family were honored with the Sorolla Medal by the Hispanic Society of America last November in New York City.

“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition on behalf of the Zobel de Ayala family,” remarked Fernando Zobel de Ayala in his acceptance speech. “We look forward to a continuous collaboration with the Hispanic community in areas of common interest, particularly those that can advance a deeper appreciation and understanding between our cultures and people.”

The Zobel de Ayala family was among the few recipients of the prestigious medal. Named after the Spanish painter Joaquin Sorolla, the Sorolla Medal has been awarded since 1924 to individuals and institutions that have significantly contributed to philanthropy, art, literature, and culture.

Through Ayala Foundation, the Zobel de Ayala family has consistently proven to be pioneers of programs empowering the field of arts and culture in the Philippines since its establishment in 1961.

The Ayala Museum is recognized as one of Ayala Foundation’s programs promoting Love of Country. Alongside Love of Country initiatives, they also conduct programs aligned with Education and Sustainable Livelihood. Deeply rooted in the foundation’s core, the Zobel de Ayala family profoundly stands on its aim to pioneer and champion Filipino arts and culture across communities and nations, with and beyond the Sorolla Medal.
