South East Asian Heritage Publications Inc. launches its third coffee table book entitled Homegrown: Collection of Genre Works featuring 36 local visual artists that delves into the roots of modern Filipino culture.

Select artworks from the first Homegrown Genre Art exhibition, which happened from February 21-28, 2023, are featured in the coffee table book. Genre art continues to push cultural narratives and expressions. In this collection, there is an interplay of tradition and modernity, wherein the artists express their own interpretation of what it means to be Filipino. The different works encapsulate the Filipino lifestyle and values, from depicting everyday scenes such as farmers harvesting and children playing luksong tinik; to showcasing different national symbols of the Philippines such as the barong and baro’t saya, bahay kubo, sampaguita, and mangoes; to paying homage to master artists like Botong Francisco, Fernando Amorsolo, and Ang Kiukok, among others.

The book is not just a testament to celebrating vibrant artistic expressions, but it also preserves and documents Filipino culture and creativity. Featured artists in the book include Aileen Lanuza, Aisha Cajade, Aljo Pingol, Almer Moneda, Aner Sebastian, Anthony Palo, Art Lozano, Averil Paras, Darwin Guevarra, Denmark Maribojoc, Dominic Rubio, Donn Manguilimotan, Edwin Tres Reyes, Emmanuel Nim, Fil Delacruz, Inday Cadapan, James Gabito, Janos Delacruz, Jomike Tejido, Joseph Albao, Jun Impas, Jun Rocha, Kenneth Montegrande, Norlie Meimban, Patrick Esmao, Perfecto Palero, Ralph Villaluz, Richard Arimado, Richard Perez, Ronnie Lim, RV Basco, Sonny Palles, Vic Bachoco, Vincent de Pio, William Alvarez, and Xander Calceta.
