In a music industry where every beat carries a statement, viral pop sensation Dia Maté is making hers loud and clear. This time, she joins forces with the legendary Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and the iconic Golden Gays for her latest single, “INA.” The song is an anthem—a celebration of legacy, love, and the enduring power of inclusivity.

Set to be released ahead of Mother’s Day and Pride Month, “INA” is a deeply personal homage to the elderly LGBTQIA+ community, the brave souls who paved the way for a more accepting society. The title itself—INA, meaning “mother”—encapsulates a broader definition of motherhood, one that transcends blood ties and embraces the chosen families that sustain and uplift the queer community.

“I’m honored to collaborate with Ate Reg. She’s an OPM legend, and her voice and lyrics make this song even more special,” Dia shares. With soaring harmonies and heartfelt storytelling, the track weaves narratives of struggle and triumph, amplifying voices that too often go unheard.

A Song for the Golden Gays

Beyond the melody, “INA” is a movement. It directly supports The Golden Gays, a nonprofit organization devoted to providing shelter, care, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ elders. Originally formed in the 1970s and later revived to honor LGBTQ+ icon Walterina Markova, the group blends comedy, music, and classic drag to bring joy to audiences across the Philippines.

All proceeds from the upcoming May 15 fundraising event will go toward The Home for the Golden Gays, securing a permanent facility for its aging members.

“Aside from The Golden Gays, I also dedicate this song to the mamas in my life—family, mentors, and friends—who have shaped me as an artist and as a person. They’re my guiding forces.” Dia’s sincerity is palpable, underscoring the emotional weight behind the project.

Advocacy Through Art

Dia Maté is no stranger to merging music with social impact. Since childhood, she’s been deeply involved in charitable efforts, teaching music as a tool for healing and empowerment. Last year, she staged a fundraising concert for the CRIBS Foundation, raising substantial donations for orphaned children and survivors of abuse. Her previous hit, “Ganda Gandahan”, championed women’s empowerment, collaborating with voguing and femme queens from the local ballroom scene.

Now, with “INA”, she solidifies her stance as a fierce advocate, using her platform not just for personal success but for community-driven change.
