Jorts have become a recent phenomenon, stirring debate within the 2023-2024 fashion trends. Criticized for being an odd, awkward middle ground between wide denim pants and regular denim shorts, or for being associated with boy shorts, jorts nonetheless have their charm.

On the other hand, with the resurgence of hip-hop and Y2K fashion trends, many models and celebrities have embraced the androgynous fit of jorts in both casual and streetwear. This has made jorts a staple in the everyday wardrobe of many Filipino artists and influencers. Here are five looks showcasing how these celebrities style their jorts.

Gwen (BINI)

For a maximum 90s baggy hip-hop look, pairing jorts with bigger, looser sweaters and shirts creates an androgynous yet weather-friendly outfit. In their Talaarawan concept photos, Gwen rocks a loose long-sleeved collared top with dark blue denim jorts for a baggy Y2K look.

Reg De Castro

Though jorts originated from hip-hop looks, they are versatile enough for minimalist aesthetics. Reg De Castro, who has created content about styling jorts, sports a chic look with a sleeveless white turtleneck, matching white jorts, and a statement pair of maroon glasses.

Kyline Alcantara

Jorts can amplify the dynamic of an entire outfit. Kyline Alcantara dons a black asymmetrical corduroy shirt paired with brown jorts, black retro shades, and dark brown Doc Martens. The jorts add extra spunk, complementing the statement corduroy piece.
