‘Liwanag sa Dilim’ adapts Rico Blanco and Rivermaya's songs into a musical.

Following the success of OPM jukebox musicals like One More Chance, The Musical featuring the songs of Ben&Ben, and Buruguduystunstugudunstuy: Ang Parokya Ni Edgar Musical, a new musical based on iconic original Pilipino music is set to take center stage—Rico Blanco’s Liwanag sa Dilim.

The Musical 

The Liwanag sa Dilim musical was first announced after the closing night of Once on This Island last year. Produced by 9Works Theatrical, the musical was written and directed by Robbie Guevara in 2019. The pandemic delayed its staging in 2020, but now it is scheduled to make its long-awaited debut in March 2025. 

Rico Blanco and Rivermaya’s Songs 

The musical will showcase some of the greatest hits by Blanco and Rivermaya, with “Liwanag sa Dilim” serving as the centerpiece. In addition to this iconic track, the production will feature other songs from Blanco and Rivermaya’s catalog, making it a must-see for OPM fans. 

The Cast 

9Works Theatrical recently announced the cast, which will feature an impressive lineup of stars, including Khalil Ramos, Anthony Rosaldo, Vien King, CJ Novato, Nicole Omillo, Alexa Ilacad, Rita Daniela, Arnel Carrion, Neomi Gonzales, Boo Gabunada, Jon Abella, Raul Montesa, Jasper Jimenez, and many more. 

Liwanag sa Dilim musical will open on March 7, 2025, at the RCBC Plaza, Ayala Avenue, Makati City.
