“Tuwing ika’y kasama, kalmado ang sistema ko.” (Lyrics from the Track #2: tahanan)
Do you still remember the feeling of a first love? It’s like going back to your sixteen-year-old self, when falling in love felt innocent, optimistic, and perhaps a bit idealistic.
It’s the kind of love that feels like a warm hug and makes you giddy, almost as if you're floating. It shuts out all the noise and the chaos of the world, making life feel, if only for a moment, like a fairytale.
Clara Benin’s latest EP under Sony Music Entertainment, really got me thinking, explores the “inner weather of love.” The record feels like a soft whisper, rich with reflection and produced with a newfound intimacy. It is minimalist, deeply personal, and vulnerable—saturated with too much honesty so open that it feels as though she is inviting you directly into her story of being a lover.

“If I was the warm sun, you would miss me . . . want to kiss me when it rains.” (Lyrics from the Track #3: the one to blame)
For Benin, writing an EP centered entirely on optimistic, hopeful love songs represents a new journey—a different kind of door she is wholeheartedly opening that manifests her growth as a songwriter.

“I’ve learned to sit with simplicity and to trust that not every space needs to be filled, that silence and restraint can carry just as much meaning as sound,” she explains.
“Because of that, I allowed the words and melodies to breathe more, and I think it creates a more intimate listening experience, like you’re just sitting in the moment with me.”
The EP opens with a minute of pure instrumental, mirroring the way a heart softly unfolds for someone when you are first starting to fall in love.
Meanwhile the remaining five tracks are deeply reflective and detailed, documenting how good it feels to be a lover—so candidly sweet, honest, and welcoming. It is a call to never fear love, but fervently accept it.
To experience it is to find the best possible feeling, one that removes all chaos. In these moments, you finally learn to breathe as if you are truly living—to be vulnerable but never afraid, and to see all possibilities as endless.

“Darling, if I could, I’d live inside your brain . . . I’d make it feel homey.” (Lyrics from the Track #4: cinnamon coffee)
The “Parallel Universe” act shares that this EP was inspired by the duality of a rainy day—how it is simultaneously heavy and comforting. It is the sensation of looking at the darkness and gloom brought by the rain from your window, yet feeling strangely comforted by it.

Co-produced by Benin and The Ringmaster, this imagery informs the sonic and lyrical foundations of the record. This translates into a reflective storytelling style that appreciates the duality of falling in love—writing about it from the safety of your bedroom, tucked under a blanket, with the sound of raindrops in your background.
Despite confessing something so fragile, you will feel safe in this emotional outpouring. Benin finds a soothing clarity in documenting her thoughts, using her honesty to reflect both her personal growth and her creative ingenuity.
This emotional confession is paired with an intricate sound design. Its intentional restraint invites listeners into a shared space of stillness, where every word and melody is created to just let you breathe.
“I tried to let the songs hold both feelings at once, the same way they exist in real life,” the singer confesses. “Some moments feel warm and grounded, while others carry a bit more tension or movement. I didn’t feel the need to resolve that contrast and just to let it exist honestly, because love rarely feels like just one thing.”
becoming, growing, flying . . .
“I think it’s love. Some will say it’s just science.” (Lyrics from the Track #5: wings)
The focus track, “wings,” encapsulates the EP’s recurring theme: love as something simultaneously “grounding and liberating.”

Through dynamic shifts in arrangement and vocal delivery, the song evokes the sensation of being held while being set free. It's describing the kind of love that holds your hand but also lets you chase who you would like to become. And that gives you enough peace to not be scared.
“It’s about finding someone who makes you feel safe enough to dream bigger, someone who reminds you of who you can become. So wings became a metaphor for that—for becoming, for growth, and for finally allowing yourself to fly.”

“That’s all I ever wanted . . . to be seen and heard and found.” (Lyrics from the Track #6: you around)
To celebrate the release, an upcoming live show aims to translate the EP’s introspective essence into an immersive physical experience. Designed to mirror the record’s emotional landscape, the performance will feature dreamlike visuals and a curated setlist centered on the six new tracks, interwoven with selected gems from her earlier discography.
While her previous performances often relied heavily on backing tracks, Benin is stripping things back for this showcase. By leaning into live instrumentation—incorporating piano, bass, and live backing vocals—the show promises a dreamy, breathable atmosphere.

The singer said, “It still feels very personal, just with a bit more warmth and presence.”
This is exactly what she wants us to feel—that quiet, breathless rush of falling in love, where a confession is spoken not with fear, but with the gentle bravery of a soft whisper.
It is the feeling of being entirely immersed in the moment, where love reveals itself as something unbelievably magical and comforting.
In Benin’s world, a lover’s language is painted with the colors of a rainbow, turning the grayest rainy day into a space full of hope, and making you dream of falling in love while listening to her music.
