The Super Bowl has long been a special event that makes people shout and stand from their seats. With all of these special and worth-remembering scenes or memories, the event must be well-documented to be able to be remembered.
With this mission on hand, Sony made the event extra special with their 100 broadcast cameras and equipment spread across the field to document and enhance fans’ experience on the biggest day of football.
Capturing incredible imagery
On February 9, the Super Bowl happened. More than 240 Sony Cameras were spread across the venue inside the Caesars Superdome to cover the fans’ favorite plays, replays, interviews, and celebrations.
“Our job is to tell the game's story, capturing the stadium's energy and keeping billions of viewers engaged, and Sony is a key tool in reaching that goal,” said FOX Sports EVP Field Operations Michael Davies.
As Sony successfully documented all of these, the team succeeded in capturing incredible imagery to enhance the experience of fans on-site, those who are staying at home, and those who will watch them after the event.
Decade-long innovation and production
Sony has been a long advocate of good imagery, innovation, and production. They are known for their cameras and other equipment. For the Super Bowl, the official broadcaster of the event, FOX Sports, used professional broadcast models. Meanwhile, The Associated Press and other sideline photographers also used various Alpha™ interchangeable lens cameras and E-mount lenses including G Master™.
“We are proud to play a critical role in Super Bowl LIX, drawing on our decades-long record of imaging innovation and production expertise to ensure that every fan watching on-site or at home has the best seat in the house,” said President and COO of Sony Electronics North America Neal Manowitz.
A cinematic concert
As the largest event in football history, the team’s mission is to deliver a cinematic concert experience to millions of fans after and during the event–the team has less than five minutes to do so. Despite this, they can work seamlessly and accept the challenge using Sony Cinema Line cameras.
This experience is incredible proof that Sony is truly a legend in the field of innovation and cinematography. With their phenomenal lineup of cameras suitable for any event, Sony successfully captured every angle in the Super Bowl elevating the experiences of millions of fans.
