For over a century, Shell Pilipinas Corporation (SPC) has been a dedicated partner to Filipinos, supporting them through triumphs and challenges while advancing progress across the Philippines. This commitment extends beyond providing cleaner energy solutions to fostering cultural enrichment through initiatives like the Shell National Students Art Competition (Shell NSAC), now in its 57th year.

Under the theme "Lika na, Likha pa ng Obra" (Come and Create Masterpieces), this year's Shell NSAC celebrates the nation's journey towards progress, honoring past achievements while embracing the ongoing pursuit of a brighter future. More than just a platform for creating art, Shell NSAC embodies the Filipino spirit of resilience, determination, and collaboration, driving positive change and transformation.

Shell Pilipinas President and CEO Lorelie Quiambao-Osial emphasized the recent opening of Shell Pilipinas’ first exhibit at the National Museum on February 26. She underscored the historical significance of the museum's walls, recognizing their resonance with the evolution of Filipino arts and culture. Quiambao-Osial reiterated Shell Pilipinas' commitment to nurturing young artists, noting the evolution of Shell NSAC by adding various categories over the years. The organization aims to preserve the country's rich cultural heritage through the lens of young artists.

Artworks of the Shell NSAC at the National Museum

The 57th Shell NSAC Launch at the National Museum of the Philippines showcases artworks from winners over the past four years under the theme "Onwards and Upwards: Revelations on Filipino Resilience and Excellence through Shell National Students Art Competition Artworks.” The exhibition illustrates the evolving nature of these artworks from 2020 to 2023, capturing Filipino youth's resilience, foresight, and cultural diversity.

Open to the public for six months, from February 27 to August 25, 2024, the exhibit embodies Shell NSAC's commitment to democratizing art and nurturing the next generation of Filipino artists. National Museum Director-General Jeremy Barns highlighted the museum's aspiration to be a beacon of human ingenuity, aligning with Shell NSAC's role as an inspiration for emerging artists nationwide. He commended Shell Pilipinas for honoring Filipino artistry and encouraged student artists to seize the opportunity to participate in NSAC with confidence and openness.

It’s Your Turn to Shine at the Shell NSAC

Contributing to the rich heritage of Filipino art, the Shell NSAC provides a platform for young artists to showcase their creativity across various disciplines. Serge Bernal, Shell Pilipinas Vice President of Corporate Relations, noted that the competition offers more than just a chance to compete—it's an opportunity for self-discovery and artistic exploration.

Entries for the 57th Shell National Students Art Competition are now open, with a submission deadline of September 25, 2024. Winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony later this year.
