Blackpink has been busy breaking records and making history in the K-pop industry. With their intense choreography, captivating visuals, and unpredictable fashion choices, they have won the hearts of fans and non-fans alike.
Comprising four members – Rosé, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo – they have been in the industry for over 7 years, showcasing their enduring influence and demonstrating girl power as they take over the world with hit songs such as 'Ice Cream,' 'Shut Down,' 'Pink Venom,' 'Lovesick Girls,' 'Boombayah,' and more.
In their journey towards global stardom, let's traverse through time and explore moments when Blackpink proved that they are the next royalty of K-pop!
'Actual' Royalties
During a recent visit to Buckingham Palace, the quartet channeled their inner princesses, looking like actual royalty.
Rosé, as seen in the picture, exuded elegance in a black tube dress that highlighted her beautiful neckline, paired with black stilettos – absolutely sophisticated!
Jisoo opted for a classical princess look with her puff-sleeve textured dress, complemented by black platform heels.
In contrast to her bandmates, Jennie wore an elegant white strapless long dress with a train, carrying a silver sparkling clutch bag.
Lisa sparkled in a turquoise dress with a train, paired with silver platform heels and a diamond necklace.
Blackpink not only showcases their timeless visuals but also advocates for environmental awareness. They were honored as Honorary Members of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBEs) for the COP26 Summit in Glasgow by the Royal Family.
First Asian Coachella headliner
Blackpink achieved another historic milestone by becoming the first Korean act to headline Coachella in 2023. Their performance at the renowned music festival featured several hits, including ‘How You Like That,’ ‘Pink Venom,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘Typa Girl,’ ‘Boombayah,’ and more.
The significance of being the first K-pop band to headline Coachella not only cements their place in history but also positions them as role models for future idols. Blackpink has become the embodiment of success, setting a precedent for aspiring artists in the industry.
First Best Female K-pop Group in VMAs
Prior to becoming headliners at Coachella, Blackpink secured the 'Group of the Year' award at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). This accomplishment is particularly noteworthy as they are recognized as the second all-female group to win the award, following the victory of TLC, an American girl group.
The significance of this award is heightened by the fact that Blackpink achieved this honor 24 years after TLC's win. This not only underscores the formidable influence of Blackpink but also highlights the capacity of girl groups to dominate the global stage.
Indeed, Blackpink has repeatedly demonstrated their capability and worthiness of global stardom. Throughout their career, they have exemplified the substantial power of girl groups by conquering the world with their music. Their commitment to their fans, passion for stage performances, and dedication to creating impactful songs are evident.
For quite some time now, aspiring idols, fans, and the world at large will remember Blackpink as a symbol of success and the royalties of K-pop. Their legacy serves as an inspiration and testament to the enduring impact that a group of talented and determined individuals can have on the music industry.
