Samantha Feleo in conversation with Tenten Mina
The Cultural Center of the Philippines invites guests to listen in on a conversation between exhibiting artist Samantha Feleo and museum-worker and archaeological researcher Tenten Mina. The discussion aims to provide context and present a point of departure for a deeper understanding of Feleo’s work, through the eyes of a non-artist. It will allow viewers to learn more about Feleo’s artistic process, influences, concerns, and will highlight key concepts from her exhibition such as the sublime and the primordial theory of creation.
Samantha Feleo (b.1988) is currently finishing her Master of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts, Major in Painting, in 2008, both from the same university. A Cum Laude graduate and a consistent college scholar, Feleo was one of the Best Thesis grantees of the UP College of Fine Arts in 2008. She was a Semi-Finalist in the painting category of the Metrobank Awards for Design and Excellence in 2009. She had her first solo exhibition in 2016 at Archivo 1984 Gallery.
Tenten Mina (b.1984) is a Senior Researcher at the Ayala Museum, with 14 years experience in museum work. Her research in the museum covers fine arts, ethnographic and archaeological materials. She obtained her BFA in Art Management from the Ateneo de Manila University and is finishing her MA at the University of the Philippines – Diliman Archaeological Studies Progam, specializing in trade ceramics. She is also an active member of the Oriental Ceramic Society of the Philippines.
