“Fotomoto 22: Home”
The photography collective Fotomoto is now accepting submissions for this year’s edition, “Fotomoto22: Home”. FotomotoPH organizes the largest annual photography exhibition in the Philippines. The show travels to different regions and is accompanied by talks, workshops, portfolio reviews and other programs.
This year’s series will open at the new UP College of Fine Arts Gallery in Diliman from November 19 to December 10, 2022. In 2023, the exhibit will travel to two more locations outside of Metro Manila: the BenCab Museum, Benguet in February and Orange Project at the Bacolod Art District in May.
Fotomoto has released the following curatorial brief for the theme of Home: We have emerged from the past two years with new perspectives on our homes, due to prolonged isolation, working and studying from home, migration, displacement, loss of one’s home or finding a new one. The sense of home, while tied to places, may also be as abstract as a feeling, relationship, or ritual. We welcome all cultural, historical, socio political, and personal narratives captured through the various genres of photo-based works, from all regions of the Philippines.
Selections for the exhibit will juried by the Fotomoto curatorial team and will be made available for sale. Limited Edition, Large Format Fine Art will be sold exclusively through their partner galleries, while Fine Art Gallery Prints, unnumbered but limited to the period of sale, will be available for purchase at the website. All prints will have Certificates of Authenticity issued by FotomotoPH. Part of Fotomoto’s proceeds goes to the Art Relief Mobile Kitchen, a volunteer organization that feeds the hungry during times of distress and calamity. The charity was co-founded by photographer Alex Baluyut in 2013 after Typhoon Yolanda.
The submission period starts July 15 and ends on September 30, 2022 at 12NN.
