2021 Arts Management Undergraduate Conference

A first of its kind in the Philippines, the Arts Management Program of the De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde holds the 2021 Arts Management Undergraduate Conference this 21-23 July 2021 at 1:00 to 5:30 PM (GMT+8 Manila Time). This is supported by the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), a membership organization based in the United States of America ‘representing the world’s leading arts administration programs, all training and equipping students in arts leadership, management, entrepreneurship, cultural policy”, among many others. The conference will be held via Zoom and streamed through Facebook pages of Benilde Arts and Culture Cluster (BACC) and Benilde Arts Management (BeAM). The conference is in partnership with two other Philippine universities offering programs related to the management of arts, culture, and creative industries which are University of the Philippines Manila’s BA Philippine Arts- Cultural Heritage and Arts Management Program and the Ateneo de Manila University School of Fine Arts’ BA Art Management Program. It aims to convene local and international students, faculty, professionals, and practitioners engaging in various management articulations in the arts and culture ecosystem, prospect futures of related disciplines, and provide avenues for dialogues to discuss how the arts, culture, and creative industries have been thriving in the current pandemic and moving forward.
The program consists of 19 presentations from undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as professionals and practitioners based in the Philippines, Singapore, Australia, United Arab Emirates, and Germany. These stem from some of the identified conference streams on contemporary art and digital media, audience development: inclusion and accessibility, arts and cultural education, art spaces and exhibition-making, sustainability and strategy in arts and culture management, and cultural heritage and tourism.
Moreover, there would be 3 keynote speeches from international arts management scholars and practitioners namely Dr. Brett Ashley Crawford (on Emerging Technology Transforming Arts and Arts Management), Associate Teaching Professor and Faculty Chairperson at Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University, USA; Jeff Poulin (on Cultivating the Creative Generation: Arts Management, Cultural Policy, and Arts Education), Managing Director and Founder of Creative Generation, USA; and Dr. Constance DeVereaux (on Discourse Matters: Reflections on Arts Management Practice and its Narrative Frames), Associate Professor in Residence and Director at School of Fine Arts, University of Connecticut, USA.
