Artists, thought leaders, and even politicians take part in an evocative reading of “The Great Dictator.” The video opens with a clip of actor John Loyd Cruz sporting a similar look Chaplin’s character in the film. Cruz is joined by Janine De Leon, Agot Isidro, writer Randy David, actress Bibeth Orteza, director Carlitos Siguion Reyna, senators Risa Hontiveros and Francis Panglinan among others.
The speech was originally performed by Charlie Chaplin in the 1940’s film “The Great Dictator.” It was translated to Filipino by playwright, Rody Vera, and directed by Chuck Gutierrez. This video is a follow-up to the same speech released by Voyage Studio on the 28th of June a few days before the controversial Anti-Terrorism Bill was signed into law despite the warnings concerning the vague provisions of the bill.
The short video is produced by Voyage Studio, the same production company that produced the Gawad Urian Award for Best Documentary film Sunday Beauty Film (2016)
