As an award-winning Italian-born Japanese celebrity chef and restaurateur, Salvatore Cuomo has been credited with catapulting Neapolitan pizza to fame in Tokyo and across Asia. He clinched the Guinness 2016 Longest Pizza in the World Record in Naples, alongside other notable awards. Striving to enhance Italian cuisine globally, his restaurants now thrive in the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, China, Australia, and Chile.

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, we had the exclusive pleasure of dining at Salvatore Cuomo Café in The Podium, Ortigas, where “The Pizza Man” himself graciously invited us to indulge in his latest menu revelations and even gave a special cooking class on the perfect Gnocchi. Here, you can enjoy premium casual dining while savoring new playful flavors made with the freshest ingredients and crafted to the highest standards.

Gnocchi con Spinaci e Asiago con Crema di Porcini

For lunch, we started with Chef Cuomo’s exciting rendition of Asiago-filled Spinach Gnocchi, drenched in Porcini Cream. This melt-in-your-mouth delicacy is a healthy delight that perfectly balances the flavors of cream and salt.

Spaghetti al Miso Dolce Aglio e Tonno

Next, we enjoyed a dish of Smoked Sweet Miso and Garlic Sauce with Tuna and Tomato Emulsion that was delightful and easy to eat. The blend of sweet and garlicky flavors perfectly complemented the pasta, cooked to al dente.

Frittatina di Pasta e Patate con Provola

This smoked cheese Croquette with a surprise center of Pasta and Potato did not disappoint. This unique creation is a hearty meal for those who appreciate a solid crunch and a smooth, mushy filling.

Escargot Fritto

Chef Cuomo’s Fried Escargot with Potato Cream, Parsley Oil, and Balsamic Reduction is a fancy dish that is as delightful to look at as it is to eat. We savored this almost seafood-like delicacy, plated artistically on fine ceramic.

Pizza Croccante con Porchetta Affumicata

Moist Porchetta and smoked Burrata Cheese on top of fresh and fluffy Focaccia are everything you need in one perfect bite. This playful fusion of flavors is warm and comforting, like an embrace in the form of food.

Pizza Sukiyaki and Truffle

Like an unexpected gift placed on our laps, this thin-crust pizza with Sukiyaki Style Wagyu Beef, Buffalo Mozzarella, Mushroom, and Truffle Sauce was an absolute winner. Its smoky aromas and deep flavors marry sweet and savory tastes perfectly.

Passion Fruit Gelato with Mascarpone Espuma

We ended our hearty feast with this light dessert of tangy gelato and rich, creamy Mascarpone. This sweet-and-sour confection might have been the most delightful way to end our filling Italian luncheon.
